Homeownership Requirements

You must have lived in Midland/Ector County for one full continuous year prior to applying. You must have a current living situation that is not adequate and you are unable to obtain adequate housing through traditional means. No one who will move into the house can have a felony conviction in the past 7 years. Sex offenders, regardless of the time since the offense, may not live in a Habitat home. You must have a minimum credit score of 550. And you must meet the income guidelines listed below.

Do I Qualify?

To be eligible for a Permian Basin Habitat for Humanity home, applicants must meet three basic requirements:

  • Need for Housing
    Need for Housing

    You must currently live in unsafe, overcrowded, unstable, or unaffordable housing.

  • Ability to Pay
    Ability to Pay

    You must demonstrate a steady and reliable source of income that falls within Habitat’s income guidelines and supports an affordable mortgage payment.

  • Willingness to Partner
    Willingness to Partner

    You must be willing to complete required sweat equity hours by helping build your home, assisting on other Habitat projects, and participating in education classes.
